Red Hare Brewing Company was founded in 2011 by Roger Davis and Bobby Thomas, childhood friends with a passion for brewing. After an initially warm response in their home town of Marietta, Georgia, Red Hare started distributing their beer in Decatur and Atlanta as well. By their third year of operation, the brewery’s demand had exceeded its production capacity, and Red Hare expanded into an 11,000 square foot facility, and also began canning its beers. Not only is Red Hare the only micro-brewery in Georgia to can their beer, they are the only brewery to use Evercan, an aluminum can made of 90% recycled metal, using 72% less energy to produce than a glass bottle, and 22% less energy than an ordinary can. Red Hare cans its beers for three reasons; it’s good for the environment, it’s good for the beer (cans are opaque and keep beer protected from light better than bottles), and it’s good for folks who want to take their beer to the beach, golf course, or tailgate. In addition to their yearly offerings, the brewery also produces its Rabbit’s Reserve Series, a line of specialty one-off batches that are unique, daring, and always different than the one before.
