Carolina Brewery was founded in 1995 by Robert Poitras in Chapel Hill, and is one of the oldest craft breweries in North Carolina. Poitras fell in love with craft beer while in college when he traveled to Europe during a summer vacation. After graduation, and armed with a laser focus for opening his own craft brewery, Poitras began the search for a brewmaster and found Jon Connolly, a graduate of the world famous Siebel Institute. Today Carolina Brewery’s beers can be found all across America, while still being exclusively brewed in-house. Using local and internationally-sourced ingredients to create seasonal and year-round ales that are full of flavor, Carolina Brewery is dedicated to making interesting and tasty beers for all to enjoy. Not only are Carolina Brewery’s beers tasty, they are award-winning; in 2006 Carolina’s India Pale Ale took home the gold medal from the Great American Beer Festival and that same year their Copperline Amber Ale took home the gold medal in the World Beer Championships. Try a beer from Carolina Brewery and let them show you what North Carolina is all about; local craftsmanship coupled with a window to the world.
