Dad’s Root Beer was created in 1937 by Ely Klapman and Barney Berns in the basement of Klapman’s home in Chicago. Always a Midwestern company, Dad’s is now headquartered in Indiana. From its outset, Dad’s was about good root beer, ready for consumption by all. They were the first brand of root beer in America to sell by the half-gallon, and were one of the first beverages to be sold in the 6-pack format in the 1940’s. All caffeine free, Dad’s makes five different varieties of root beer, and helped popularize the cream soda variety of root beer in the middle of the 20th century. Dad’s has been enjoyed by little leaguers and servicemen alike, from the 1930’s to the 21st century. In 2012 Dad’s Root Beer was proud to celebrate their 75th anniversary, looking back at a long and proud tradition with an eye to the future, which looks sweet indeed.
