In 1987 philosophy teacher Paul Philippon started a new hobby; home-brewing. By the late 1990’s, his hobby could no longer be ignored and Paul left teaching and went to work at a brewery. In 2004, after working at three different breweries over the years, Paul opened Duck-Rabbit Brewery in Farmville, North Carolina, and hasn’t looked back since. The iconic logo is a take on a duck-rabbit diagram from a philosophy textbook he taught from, which Paul thought was an appropriate tie to his old life. Duck-Rabbit Brewery focuses exclusively on dark beers for a reason; they are the passion of founder Paul Philippon, and are severely underrepresented in the marketplace. Despite their pigeon-holed reputation, there is a dark beer for every beer connoisseur out there and Duck-Rabbit Brewery’s specialization in the category leaves it best equipped to meet those demands.
