The brewery was started in 2005 by Mikael Dugge Engström and is focused on top-fermented beers, influenced by US micro breweries. The ales are brewed with lots of hops, such as Chinook hops, that gives them a strong and pleasant aroma. The brewery is very active in inventing new types of beer and usually has many test batches for sale at the brewery.
The brewery has quickly made a name for itself as one of Sweden's most popular breweries both in Sweden and internationally.
In 2007 the brewery purchased a bottling machine, allowing it to add bottled beer to its already popular draught beer selection. This also allowed Dugges to start shipping their beer internationally in ways that it had not been able to previous, exposing people all over the world to the tasty creations of Dugges Ale & Porterbryggeriet.
