Jim Frary is our Director of Safety for Hand Family Companies. Having over three decades of beverage industry experience, he began his career as a route delivery driver, eventually transitioning to management roles as a delivery manager, an operations manager., and current position overseeing all aspects of safety. Responsibilities include development of annual employee safety training curriculum, monthly toolbox talk topics, creating and updating company safety policies and programs, FMCSA/DOT compliance, conducting injury and incident reviews as well as conducting facility and retail account observations/ audits. Jim graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a master’s degree in business administration and obtained a OSHA 30-hour General Industry Certificate. He is passionate about employee safety in the beverage industry because even though some automation has been integrated into the order picking and route delivery processes, the job is still a very physical and demanding process for team members from start to finish; warehouse to retail.
Even though safety is often seen as a full-time/round-the-clock occupation, Jim does enjoy family time outside of work, tending to his country homestead, riding his Harley, and fishing. He also coach’s varsity football (offensive line) and track and field (shot put and discus) for his high school alma mater.
