Victory Brewing was founded by Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet in 1996 in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Bill and Ron first met when they were in the fifth grade in 1973, riding the school bus together. Bill, the brewmaster, was trained in the art of brewing in Germany, and while he credits his technical knowledge to his time overseas, he is glad to be brewing in the United States, where consumers embrace creativity and artistic freedom. Victory brews a variety of beers, but one thing they all have in common is a dedication to the finest ingredients available. From the German malted barley, American whole-flower hops, and over 45 varieties of yeast (for their extensive portfolio) to the wet-milling process they use to remove the barley husk from the kernel easier (producing a sweeter wort than has less tannic bitterness than usual), Victory is always trying to make the very best beer from the very best ingredients. Committed to their community, the brewery sends its spent grain to a local cattle farmer to feed his herd, as well as constantly trying to reduce their carbon footprint through smarter brewing methods. Following a surge in demand in the early 2000s, Victory expanded its operation to a re-purposed building near their original location, and in 2013 produced over 102,000 barrels of beer - a new record, but one that the brewery is confident it will surpass.
