Goose Island is proud to introduce a brand new Chicago-only pale ale for the city they hold closest to their hearts: Goose Island Old Man Grumpy. Dry hopped with Huell Melon and Mosaic hops, Old Man Grumpy has a strong tropical citrus nose and crisp finish that makes for an extraordinarily drinkable beer. We stopped by the Goose Taproom to take a closer look at this new beer for our city.
After the success of Green Line and its subsequent national packaging and draft launch, Goose Island felt like they needed to do something for Chicago. “We always want to take care of Chicago,” says Mike Smith, Associate Brand Manager for Goose’s core brands. “It’s who we are.”
The result is O.M.G., a dry hopped pale ale that has been a favorite around the brewery since it was first brewed a couple years ago. And as for the name?
“We have a little bit of history at Goose with ornery brewmasters,” Mike tells me. “This recipe came from a brewmaster who wanted to make a dry hopped pale ale and we called it ‘Old Man Grumpy’ as a kind of nod to them.”

A perfect beer for summer in Chicago, pair Old Man Grumpy. with anything on the grill—burgers, steaks, hell, even a couple hot dogs. It is available now and will be coming to your local tavern very soon. Use our BEER FINDER to locate one near you.
