When 312 Urban Wheat first launched in 2004, no one could anticipate the impact it would have on our great city. From the get go it was a beer that embodied the qualities of Chicago we hold close to our hearts: no-nonsense, down to business, and perfect for any occasion. Now, over 12 years later, it’s hard to picture Chicago without 312. And since 3/12 is just around the corner, why not celebrate?
Meet the latest addition to Goose Island’s already impressive lineup: Four Star Pils. Brewed with German and American hops, this golden-hued Pilsner has a light, fresh body with a clean finish.
Welcome to the next chapter of The Beer Glass Guide infographic, where we explore the sensorial benefits of glassware, as well as their historic influence in beer drinking culture.
This month we explore the goblet, also referred to as chalice. With the holiday season in full swing, an introduction to the range of wide mouth glasses is appropriate for entertaining the beer, wine and cider fans alike. Forget having to stock all types of glasses for your holiday party, we’ll explain how goblet-style wine glasses can provide the ultimate drinking experience.
The 13th annual Festival of Barrel Aged Beers (FoBAB) was this past weekend at the UIC Forum. This festival for strong, delicious, barrel aged beers, put on by the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild (ICBG), boasted 363 beers from 157 breweries. We had a few friends pouring beers over the weekend: 3 Sheeps Brewing Co., Against the Grain Brewery, Atlas Brewing Company, Bell’s Brewery, Brooklyn Brewery, Central Waters Brewing Company, Goose Island Beer Co, MKE Brewing Co., Moody Tongue Brewing Company, Schlafly Beer, Sweetwater Brewing Company, Tallgrass Brewing, Upland Brewing Co., Virtue Cider and Widmer Brothers Brewing.
Congratulations to our friends who won some shiny hardware at FoBAB: Bell’s Brewery Expedition Stout – Silver in Strong Porter/Stout, Goose Island Brewpub Cherry Run – Silver in Fruit Beer, MKE Brewing Gin Barrel Aged O-Gii – Gold in Specialty/Experimental, and Virtue Cider Percheron – Gold in Cider/Perry/Mead.
A big thank you to the Guild for putting on such a solid beer festival year after year, to the breweries for creating delicious beers and to the people who volunteered their time over the weekend to make this fest such a success. Cheers to next year!
It’s a sunny afternoon on what will turn out to be Chicago’s last warm day of year and I’m sitting across a table from Goose Island Beer Co. brewmaster Jared Jankoski with six bottles of 2015 Bourbon County Stout between us. Read More
If you’re anything like us, you’re tired of hearing people tell you summer’s almost over. You’re not going to let it end. And neither are we. That’s why we’re giving you a chance to win some summer-saving swag from Goose Island, and tickets for you and your friends to close out the season at the 4th annual 312 Urban Block Party.
So don’t go unpacking your winter coat. Don’t you dare take out your boots from storage. Summer is going to stay in Chicago as long as we can help it. Long live summer!
