For three glorious days, Chicago’s Grant Park has been transformed into NFL’s Draft Town Chicago. This FREE fan festival runs from April 29th until May 2nd and features live music, cold beer, hot food, free player autographs, interactive games, photo opps, and a healthy dose of giant tvs on which to watch the 2015 NFL Draft. Here are our top five favorite things to do at Draft Town.
#5: Oogle the Memorabilia
From championship rings to the Vince Lombardi trophy, there are endless amounts of cool things to see and be photographed with (and pretend you won). Pro-tip: Do this on the early side to avoid the lines.
#4: Fly. Like, literally.
The best view at Draft Town is above Draft Town. Suit up and head into the “Sweetness Simulator” for an insanely fun in-place skydiving session. Just make sure that you don’t eat too much before attempting.
#3: Test your skills
For the truly fearless (or maybe just the talented), Draft Town has a ton of opportunities to perform NFL skills tests in front of an audience of your peers. Attempt a 10 or 20 yard field goal, sprint against your fellow Chicagoans or challenge yourself to a high jump to see how you stack up against your favorite NFL stars.
#2: Eat some food, drink some beer
As with nearly everything Chicago does, there are a TON of tasty food options at Draft Town. Our personal favorite? The Brisket Nachos served in a Doritos bag.
Then, with nachos in hand, proceed to the Draft Tavern, a massive pop-up sports bar with plenty of cold Bud, Bud Light, Shock Top and Goose Island 312.
You really can’t go wrong with nachos and a Bud Light.
#1: Bask in the glory that is football
Yes, the food’s great. Yes, it’s great to have a cold beer outside on a warm day. Those two things alone and we count it a good day. But here’s what makes Draft Town so special: you’re surrounded by 100,000 fellow (and rival) fans, all experiencing the thrills and disappointments of the NFL draft as it unfolds. And really, how could it get any better than that?
