According to Twitter, Thursday, April 5th is #DeepDishPizzaDay. And as prideful as Chicagoans are, there are few things we do better than pizza (sorry New York City). Whether it’s the buttery-flakey crust from Gino’s East or Lou Malnati’s or the pan-style goodness from Pequod’s, there is deep dish style for everyone. Sure, it’s not necessarily the go-to pizza all the time–but when you do have it, it’s a real treat.
Our friends at Old Style also know a thing or two about pizza. Hell, they invented the annual Old Style Chicago Pizza Summit two years ago. This year’s Summit on April 22 is sure to be even better than the last two but unfortunately, it’s sold out…until now.
Just in time for spring, Old Style is introducing their newest seasonal release: Cooler by the Lake Radler.
“There is no greater place on earth than the Midwest in the summer,” says Anthony Spina, Brand Manager for Old Style Beer. “It’s exciting to see that Old Style’s fans have embraced both our storied legacy as well as our newer modern brews. Expanding our offerings to include our take on the very popular Radler style is the perfect way for us to create something new and fun to enjoy on those special Midwest summer days and nights. As our weatherman says, ‘it’s always cooler by the lake.’”
While the majority of beers you’ll encounter are carbonated with carbon dioxide, some are carbonated with nitrogen gas, or nitro for short. Nitrogen gas creates smaller bubbles than CO2, imparting a smooth, creamy mouthfeel in beers like Guinness Draught, perhaps the most well-known nitro beer in the world.
American craft breweries have since adopted the nitro technology Guinness invented back in 1959, incorporating their own creativity in the beers. 3 Sheeps Brewing from Sheboygan, WI was one of the first American craft breweries to successfully bottle a full line of nitro beers, led by their delicious Cashmere Hammer Nitro Stout.
And while nitro beers are most commonly associated with stouts, Founders Brewing adds nitrogen to Rubaeus, their raspberry ale, making for delightful treat — almost like drinking liquid jam. Our Training and Education Manager, Chris Kolodziej, shares his thoughts on nitro beers in our next video below.
In Chicago, we’re no stranger to cold weather. Hell, we embrace it. But the good people of Minnesota are on a whole other level. Minneapolis’ Surly Brewing knows a thing or two about the cold and recently released the brand new 60 Below Rye IPA, named in honor of the coldest day in Minnesota state history.
Lakeshore Beverage is proud to service over 15,000 retail accounts across our sales footprint. This includes bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and even major venues like the United Center and O’Hare airport. Behind each of these accounts is a sales representative from our company that services their beverage orders, signage requests, event ideas, and sometimes even delivery of items. They’re out on the road day in and day out, navigating the joys of parking in Chicago, eating lunches in their cars, and constantly communicating with their list of accounts.
Our 200-person sales team is the front line of our company. And while our operations team are the ones who are responsible for delivering the product, both teams work hand-in-hand to ensure the best possible service to our customers. For National Salesperson Day on March 2, our Digital Marketing Specialist, Kevin, had the chance to ride along with four different members of our sales team.
As a brewery that built itself on innovation and not following the rules, it’s no surprise Founders is once again changing the game with their newest beer: Solid Gold Premium Lager.
