Event Spotlight | Return to the Throne with Brewery Ommegang ›
On November 13, 2015  ·  in Brewery Ommegang, Event Spotlight

666A0018 To celebrate the return of the Game of Thrones-inspired Iron Throne Blonde Ale and Three-Eyed Raven Dark Saison, Brewery Ommegang held a fit feast for a king at Kaiser Tiger. There was a costume contest hosted by the one-and-only Geek Girl Chicago, a raffle, a plethora of tasty bites and live “‘Thrones Yourself” portraits by Chicago artist, Daniel Warren Johnson. It was a good time. Read More

We had a blast last night at the third installment in our event series with The Hop Review, Arts & Crafts: A Celebration of Art and Craft Beer. The series is an opportunity for us to explore the connection between two things we care very much about: craft beer and art, and Vol 3: Hand Lettering with Frances MacLeod allowed us to do just that.  Read More

It’s a sunny afternoon on what will turn out to be Chicago’s last warm day of year and I’m sitting across a table from Goose Island Beer Co. brewmaster Jared Jankoski with six bottles of 2015 Bourbon County Stout between us. Read More

This year, we celebrated Halloween in style. 3 Sheeps Brewing Company joined us at The Logan Theatre for a zombie-sheep themed beer party, complete with a costume contest, raffle, plenty of beer and a screening of the zombie sheep movie, Black Sheep.

3 Sheeps even made a custom beer for the night called Violence of the Lambs, a blood red amber ale with pomegranates. Read More

On an unseasonably warm evening in October, Chicago dog lovers gathered at Bucktown Pub to celebrate their love for pups and pints with Rogue Ales.

There was a costume contest (obviously) with prizes from Krisers Natural Pet in Bucktown, a ton of delicious Rogue Ale’s Dead Guy and the opportunity for the pets to join the brewery’s official fan club, Rogue Nation. The dogs raised their right paws, performed the official ceremony, walked the official red carpet, and received their official membership cards.

Check out the photos below of ceremony and then scroll to the end to catch the official Pup Portraits!

Beer Prints | Brewery Ommegang Rosetta by Worth 1000 Beers ›
On October 15, 2015  ·  in Beer Prints, Brewery Ommegang

Today we continue our collaboration series with local artist and craft beer blogger, MC Johnsen of Worth 1000 Beers. We call it Beer Prints. MC, our Artist-in-Residence, creates a new beer print each month to highlight a new-to-Chicago release on the Lakeshore Beverage portfolio. You can only get these special-edition prints through the Worth 1000 Beers Etsy store or by entering to win one on this blog. Take a look at last month’s Beer Print on Schlafly’s Pumpkin Ale.

MC’s work is as unique as it is useful, as it beautifully illustrates the aromas and flavor profiles in the beer she’s featuring. Studying her prints with a pint of the featured beer is a great way to train your palate to pickup the complexities in the glass. In this month’s piece, MC highlights the tart cherry and toffee notes in Brewery Ommegang’s new Belgian-Style Kriek called Rosetta.
