Today we continue our collaboration series with local artist and craft beer blogger, MC Johnsen of Worth 1000 Beers. We call it Beer Prints. MC, our Artist-in-Residence, creates a new beer print each month to highlight a new-to-Chicago release on the Lakeshore Beverage portfolio. You can only get these special-edition prints through the Worth 1000 Beers Etsy store or by entering to win one on this blog. Take a look at last month’s Beer Print on Schlafly’s Pumpkin Ale.
MC’s work is as unique as it is useful, as it beautifully illustrates the aromas and flavor profiles in the beer she’s featuring. Studying her prints with a pint of the featured beer is a great way to train your palate to pickup the complexities in the glass. In this month’s piece, MC highlights the tart cherry and toffee notes in Brewery Ommegang’s new Belgian-Style Kriek called Rosetta.

Last night was the inaugural voyage in our newest event series, BYOBeer Dinners. If you’re a regular reader of this blog you’ve probably noticed how excited I’ve been about this meal. Day two of Chicago Craft Beer Week started about the best way a day can possibly start: with a donut. This particular donut was Glazed and Infused’s CCBW-inspired creation called IPD (India Pale Donut).
Lakeshore Beverage will be hosting a bunch of great events during this year’s Chicago Craft Beer Week but one of the ones I’m most excited about is the first in a new series of meals we’re calling BYOBeer Dinners.
BYOBeer Dinners are custom meals designed to showcase Chicago’s unique BYOB restaurants with beverage pairings provided by Lakeshore Beverage. During the meal, Lakeshore’s beer experts will explain the reasoning behind the pairings, while the restaurant owners and family members tell the story behind the dishes we’re enjoying and the neighborhoods we’re enjoying them in.
The beer experts at Lakeshore Beverage love beer pairing. We pair our beer with food, cheeses — even music and movies. We view beer as an experience that can be elevated when combined with other experiences. It’s this passion that led us to explore an often-overlooked pairing: beer and cigars.
We partnered with the cigar experts over at Famous Smoke to put together a few craft beer and cigar pairing suggestions.
